A tintype portrait is a unique monochrome photograph on a sheet of metal. The technique was invented in the 1850’s and the finished tintype is still the most archivally permanent form of photograph today. The final image can be seen minutes after the picture is taken in a magical chemical transformation.
The portrait session will last about 90 minutes. Tif will show you the wetplate collodion process (from metal sheet to finished photograph) and collaborate with you in his studio to make a unique 10x8 inch tintype. You will also receive a digital file of the photograph by email.
